Steven Reed and his wife, Diandra, started SOS Construction – Remodeling LLC in 2020 (“SOS Construction”) as a general contracting company that specializes in home remodeling, commercial buildout, and new constuction in Houston and the surrounding area. Prior to SOS Construction, Steven spent 16 years in the oilfield industry but this ended in 2020 due to the pandemic. As an optimization engineer and project manager, Steven obtained a skill set that would transcend his work into his new career as general manager of SOS Construction & Remodeling. He brings a wealth of information and capability that includes attention to detail, communicating with clients and managers, and managing multiple projects.
Steven always wanted to run his own business and had a strong entrepreneurial spirit. Being good at remodeling, he began taking small jobs and working as a handyman. With the help of continuing education courses and support of networking groups, he was able to increase his confidence and make the transition to a general contractor and founded SOS Construction & Remodeling.
Steven also believes strongly helping mentor others who might consider working in the trades or the building industry. Young people who may not be college bound need to understand they can make a great living in this industry and can get started easily. As an alumni of Mattress Mack’s vocation training school, Steven returns as a speaker to encourage high school age and young adults to learn a skill and make a great living. He lets them know he was once in their shoes, and now look at what he has achieved.
Diandra Reed had experience in working with small businesses and was essential in setting up and managing the business operations at SOS Construction. At the same time, her work as a realtor creates the perfect partnership for many SOS Construction & Remodeling projects.
